Treadmill Workout: For Those Who Hate Cardio

Work harder. Eat better. Run faster. Feel stronger.

Do you find cardio workouts boring?

Do you feel like time passes by incredibly slowly when doing cardio?

Do you feel like doing a cardio workout feels like a chore? Like you’re just “putting in time” just “to get it over with”, without really enjoying the process?

If you answered a vengeful “Yes!” to any of these questions, then keep reading…

… and know you’re NOT alone! This is exactly how I felt when I started getting into fitness and doing cardio.

I recently got back into my treadmill routine, and my, how FUN it is! Yes! You heard that right!

At the end of this post I will share a FREE download for my Treadmill Workout that will:

  1. Keep you interested
  2. Make time pass by quickly
  3. Allow you to actually ENJOY a cardio workout

I used to loathe any type of cardio workout, especially running. I found it incredibly boring. Whether I was running inside on the treadmill or outside on a beautiful day… there was something just so monotonous about taking each stride. It also felt like time would pass by slowly every time I ran or jogged. I’d always be looking at the clock and waiting for time to pass by… and it didn’t… I just wanted to “put in my time” and get my cardio workout “over with”.

I began to see running and using the treadmill as punishment; a way to burn off those “extra calories” I ate the day before. Needless to say, I was NOT having fun. I was NOT feeling strong. But most of all, I was NOT seeing any results. This made me feel incredibly unmotivated…

… until I started to incorporate interval training into my cardio routines.

The first cardio routine I ever transformed into a Hight Intensity Interval Training workout was my treadmill routine. After doing Shawn T’s fitness program titled “Insanity” in 2013 I greatly improved my strength and endurance because of the the MAX Interval Training that is incorporated into the exercises. I learned to “DIG DEEPER” (as Shawn T would say, if you know, you know) and I was able to overcome mental barriers in order to push my hardest. Although this program was interesting and easy to follow for 60 days, I did not see this program to be sustainable for my lifestyle. However, I did learn a few things that I incorporated ever since in my own cardio routines, one of them being my treadmill workout. I incorporated the following knowledge:

  1. High Intensity Interval Training: a form of interval training which focuses on maximal bursts (extremely intense) working periods
  2. Using a timer: to stay focused on the intense working periods
  3. Warm-up and Cool down: warming up increases blood flow to the muscles, reduces muscle soreness and prevents injury while cooling down helps with gradual recovery and for your heart rate and blood pressure to return to its pre-exercise condition

All of these three strategies helped me design THE MOST EFFECTIVE Treadmill Workout that only takes 30 minutes and is interesting and fun all while allowing you to see results if done consistently as part of a workout routine.
